I have some older domains which I no longer spend time with and am thinking about redirecting them to a single domain which I do spend time on. Keep in mind they have all been for the same niche and are keyword domain names.

So, my question is... are there any negative effects of doing this? Basically I just want to consolidate multiple domains with the same niche/theme into one which I actually spend time on. Can a 301 actually negatively effect the main domain it would be going to?

While this is general in terms of search engines I might as well say I am more concerned with Google with this one.

Thanks for any information!

if the domains are clean there shouldn't be any negative effects to consolidating them.

if you are doing something that looks like pagerank manipulation there could be negative effects.

i would think about it in terms of what is best for visitors to the old domains.
