Just got my home server set up. Few questions

1. I cant access the webpage from my own computer. It only shows the apache test page. But on my cell phone using the cellular network it shows the page.

2. on my wifes phone it shows the test page. I am assuming this could be a DNS issue but it works fine on her laptop while on wifi

so wondering why some people see the test page others see the main page.

Sometimes pages are stuck in cache and you won't see the page until you refresh your cache.

You may also need to restart your DNS services, assuming it's totally propagated.

welcome to WebmasterWorld, ajac09!

you should try a traceroute under those circumstances.

I go with the caching suggestion. "Empty your cache" is always the first-resort fix for what ails you. Often it's the only one you need.

How many different browsers are on your computer? Is the site equally inaccessible on every single one of them?

firefox shows the test page still but IE shows the normal page lol wondering if i should empty out the cache on firefox really not to important since IE works and everyone outside the network seems to see the normal page its just weird haha.

if you can narrow it down to one device it's usually a nameserver or routing issue.
if you can narrow it down to one browser on one device i would clear browser cache.

yup clearing the cache worked for firefox. All devices now show the same stuff woot. Thanks guys adding extra heads to the mix helped my head not feel overwhelmed and remember the simplest stuff to try first.
