BACKGROUND:

I don't do anything fancy with Apache. I just use it to display webpages through port 80. I'm using Apache 1.3, but I have seen the same problem with 2.0.

I use WideOpenWest cable service.

I have a router with port 80 forwarded to my webserver.

I have my Domain and DNS setup through GoDaddy.com.

My internal server IP address is DHCP, but it is always the same.

My router's IP is always the same internally (it's fixed).

My WideOpenWest IP changes every few months.

The problem that I have is the same problem that I've had whether I load apache 1.3 or 2.0 on Linux, Windows, or Mac OSX.

THE PROBLEM:

Within a couple of days, the server remains powered on, but pages no longer display. The easiest way to solve the issue is to reboot the computer.

On IE, I get the message, "page cannot be displayed". When I type in my URL in the address bar, the MSN page comes up with a page that says the page cannot be found.

Has anyone experienced this before? Any ideas, hints, tips?

THANKS!

nunneryj,

Are you able to access the web site by IP address, either remotely or on the local network? Does the server respond to ping? Can you get on the server and verify if Apache is still running? Are there any other services running on the server that you can test? Is this all on different hardware?
