mod security and anti-ddos rules

Hello experts,
I have two questions:

1.) are there any general rules against DDoS attack for mod_security (something like HTTP Denial of Service Protections) or they are automaticaly included after instalation?
2.) exists any iptables settings against DDoS attack? (I am searching for some "official")
