I know you guys must get sick of postings like this and you're probably thinking, "search the archives, it's already been answered…dummy!" I'm swamped and don’t have time to research and experiment (I'm not a coder) – I'm willing to show my appreciation via PayPal to someone who has Magento SEO optimization expertise.
I have an existing OScommerce site that is ranking very well and has quite a bit of code in the .htaccess file. Stuff like SEO urls, redirects, etc.
Soon I'll be launching a new Magento site to replace the old site and have several questions that hopefully we can discuss via email, but here's a main question to begin the conversation.
I am ranked very well with this current URL structure:
I'd like to change URL structure to example below and have all old links redirect to new page names and hopefully not cause any hiccups with my rankings.
Can someone tell me the code to make this happen?
Is it safe/advisable (re: rankings)?
Is it better to maintain existing URL structure?
Are there Magento "gotchas" that I need to be aware of?
Thank you very much for your consideration.
