Hello, I have an old joomla site that uses a 404sef redirection component that is not supported anymore.

The issue is that the site created links with an added "index.php" in the url lines and we have link backs on other sites looking for the old address example: old link [alandavidnyc.com...]
new link [alandavidnyc.com...]

I want to be able to add a 301 redirect for any query looking for alandavidnyc.com/index.php/*.* to goto alandavidnyc.com/*.*

JdMorgan! Can I pay you to help me out with this? I need it done ASAP

I saw that you answered many redircting questions and I'm not an apache expert so I will take too long trying to fix it myself.

I'm also redoing the site right now in a newer vesion of joomla and want to use the correct paths, without the "index.php" inclusion.

I did add a mod_rewrite code to my .htaccess file as follows:

#
# @version $Id: htaccess.txt 5973 2006-12-11 01:26:33Z robs $
# @package Joomla

# The line just below this section: 'Options +FollowSymLinks' may cause problems
# with some server configurations. It is required for use of mod_rewrite, but may already
# be set by your server administrator in a way that dissallows changing it in
# your .htaccess file. If using it causes your server to error out, comment it out (add # to
# beginning of line), reload your site in your browser and test your sef url's. If they work,
# it has been set by your server administrator and you do not need it set here.
#
# Only use one of the two SEF sections that follow. Lines that can be uncommented
# (and thus used) have only one #. Lines with two #'s should not be uncommented
# In the section that you don't use, all lines should start with #
#
# For Standard SEF, use the standard SEF section. You can comment out
# all of the RewriteCond lines and reduce your server's load if you
# don't have directories in your root named 'component' or 'content'
#
# If you are using a 3rd Party SEF or the Core SEF solution
# uncomment all of the lines in the '3rd Party or Core SEF' section

# In both the 'Standard SEF', and '3rd Party or Core SEF' sections the line:
# RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^(/component/option,com) [NC,OR] ##optional - see notes##
# May need to be uncommented. If you are running your Joomla!/Mambo from

# RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^(/test/component/option,com) [NC,OR] ##optional - see notes##

I don't even know where to begin with this, there are so many problems.

- All external redirects must be listed before any of the internal rewrites.
- Periods in patterns must be escaped.
- Common exploits should be listed first. There's no point in redirecting requests only to then block them. It's also too late to block a request after it has been rewritten.
- The mod_rewrite syntax should not be deviated from, use RewriteRule not rewriterule, etc.
- Comments must be on a separate line, not on the end of a line of code.
- Options +FollowSymLinks must appear only once, you have it twice.

See this recent thread for various efficiency improvements: [webmasterworld.com...]

okay, just so you may understand. The htaccess file is the standard that come with Joomla 1.0.15, I added the lines:

Options +FollowSymlinks
rewritecond %{http_host} ^alandavidnyc.com/index\.php/ [nc]
rewriterule (.*)http://www.alandavidnyc.com/$1 [r=301,l]##########

and I believe a coder I hired who may not understand the rewrite added:
RewriteRule ^(content/|component/) index.php
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php [F,L]
in his desperation.

I need someone to help me fix this and I'm willing to pay, as I dont have this type of experience. Are you availabe?

Thanks
