I had at least 10 domains that hung onto a single ip address, but I have currently redirected all but one domain name to send a 301 to my main domain url. However, google still has spidered and includes my content just by the ip address alone. I dont want to be flagged for dup content, so I want to 301 my main IP address to my main domain name without causing a looping effect. Has anyone else done this without causing any problems?

Sure, you cna do this. As a matter of standard practice, I redirect all requests for example.com and undefined subdomains of example.com to www.example.com, or I redirect all subdomains, including www.example.com to example.com --one or the other-- depending on number of inbound links, the PageRank of these links in G, and "branding" and print advertising factors. In addition, I redirect the IP address (if the domain has a unique IP) to the same "standard" hostname.

Depending on your host's setup, you may need to suppress the redirect to access your stats, control panel, and DNS Zone Record editor -- this varies.

It's best to do this before a domain goes live, but if you take into account the incoming link factors, it's usually safe to do, even on an existing site.
