Hello everybody,

I'm here because if like to do a few things with my Wamp server and i don't know if that is possible.

With this localhost i like to share my files simple and organized with my friends on the network.

My "problem" is that i like to organise it well but the localhost layout is kind of ugly. I asume you know what i'm talking about. So I would like to have a sort of simple table, were is possible to see everything nicely organised.

My second problem is that i would like to to have a uploadbutton aswell on the localhost but is that possible? That my friends can upload their file to my locahost from their computer?

Maybe it's necessary to get the Xampp or Apache server running PHP en mySQL?

I hope to get a clear awnser.

Thank you.

I have a hunch you might be using the wrong 'tool' - WAMP and XAMPP are (I think) primarily development tools, with little(?) in the way of robust security

For sharing files over teh interwebs, you might want to have a look at Opera Unite - which is now (version 10.10) included in the Opera Browser:

Well first of all thank you for your quick reply.

The Opera tool is pretty much something i'm looking for but not really what i had in mind. I don't know if that is possible to be honest.

If you have any other suggestions for me that would be great.

I'm looking for a program/server/tool that provides me to host/launch a certain map with files in it(like films and software) on my computer. That I can share over the internal network.

And that other people that are aswell on the same network, can upload their files to my computer too.

(It would be great if people could access that by a internetbrowser or a other friendly way)

I hope i'm not asking to much of it.

I hope that is possible. i would like to have such thing :)

I hope there a few other options.

Thanks

For you local network, the simplest solution is just to use FTP -- See for example, the open-source FileZilla client and server for uploading files. You can use the Filezilla client or any browser to navigate, view, and download files. If you don't like the existing file organization, you can always make a Web page with links to the files, and organize those links any way you like.

Beyond this simple level of file sharing, you're talking about setting up a 'file manager' script, and that's not a simple project that we can give you step-by-step instructions for... It might take a year or two of forum posting to get through something of that scale...
