I am running Windows XP OS on my desktop and installed XAMPP for Windows 1.7.2. I used to have WAMP with older PHP on my desktop but decided to upgrade to latest XAMPP. WAMP worked fine except when I tried to copy websites that I built using PHP/MySql from my laptop to my desktop (laptop uses XAMPP succesfully) and I wanted both my machines to be confighured similarly so that I could share my work across them.
After uninstalling all old Wamp, Apache and PHP stuff from my desktop and verified clean registry, I installed XAMPP. Every time I try to start Apache, I get the following error(s):

I have uninstalled and reinstalled XAMPP several times (each time being careful to delete all files laying around after uninstall). I also used 2 registry cleaner apps to clean up the registry after uninstalls (RegCure and CCleaner). I have checked many message boards for this issue and have made no progress.
