setup server htaccess in local machine

Hi to all

I have htaccess file on server for a project. Now I want to setup the same project and its htaccess file on my local system. But when I try tos et the file locally it gives me a 500 interna, server error. Please if someone can just point out where I am going wrong, it will be great.

look in the server error log file for a message to explain what caused the 500 response.
