I thought I was upgrading my php by installing the newer version of xampp, but instead it rewrote files I have been making changes to for the past year.
I dont think it deleted anything, but it sure did put everything back to stock form.

Apache stalled (wont start) with specified ip invalid.

as a rookie, using xampp and all, I was wondering if it was fixable or should I have to start from scratch..

where should I begin checking for the correct information ?

ahh NO I havent made any backups, but lesson learned.

My condolences... :(

Dig around looking for 'versioned' filenames or installation-backup directories, to see if any may have been created by the installer. If not ... well, welcome to your brand-new factory-default server!

I hear ya,
So, I have since commited to starting from scratch.
Thing is I still cant start apache through the xampp console.
I am not getting any event viewer errors listed, and I have managed to uninstall and reinstall the xampp several times. Including renaming the xampp to xamppold.
I guess new question is, why cant I just reinstall the xammp ?
should I be deleteing some registry keys or something...
a pre re-install checklist ?
