Hey people, sorry if this has already been posted but i have already looked on this forum and google but i just cant seem to find it (maybe im wording it wrong)

well anyway i know very little about the .htaccess file and im trying to make a simple file hosting site which will need to change

site.com/files/directory/file1.exe to site.com/file.php?f=files/directory/file1.exe

i know that i will probably have to use mod rewrite but i cant think what i would do with it

any help would be really appreciated and dont forget that i am new so please forgive me for any mistakes
