I've attempted to get answers at the Apache Forums and failed. Apparently all the apache masters have fled to webmasterworld.

I have replaced the original index.html file with a very simple file of the same name that prints "It works" on the screen. When I use localhost in the url, I am taken to phpmyadmin which makes sense. When I attempt to type the web server's ip address into the URL of another machine, I see the apache test page.

I've checked httpd.conf but may have missed something.

Hi,

Did you put it in the proper folder?

default apache path:

/var/www/html

or user forlder

/home/username/public_html

Do you have a dedicated or a shared IP?

The reason I'm asking is that I see the Apache test page for the IP on my sites that have shared IP hosting, but can see my own site when I pay for a unique IP number.
