Problem With Image Sizes Doubling

Ive recently moved my site (an almost pure html site) from shared virtual hosting to a high spec dedicated server and I have a strange problem whereby it appears that the images sizes have doubled.

I have an identical website with identical images set up on the IP of the old hosting and on the domain located on my new dedicated server. I tested both before and after the move.

When I test the loading times on the web optimization sites, the virtual hosting load time of the web page on a 56k connection is 21 seconds and the dedicated server hosting load time for 56k is 32 seconds. This doesnt make any sense as the dedicated server should produce results far superior.

According to the feedback, the site on the dedicated server gives readings of image sizes which are twice the actual image sizes and it also, bizarrely, reads that the total file size of all the images is 55k and yet for the virtual hosting the same score is 5k. Which means that somehow the optimization site is seeing that the total images on the dedicated server are more than ten times bigger!

Ive tested a number of optimization sites and have similar results across the board but I just cannot find out the reason for the problem. Does anyone know? Could incorrect DNS zone file settings be to blame and produce the strange problem im getting here? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I didnt use GZIP on either. The web page and images on both are identical.
