www redirect

how can i make my site redirected from
example.com
to
www.example.com

i read that google sees those two as two different websites and negatively affects your ranking. but i read that if you redirect one to the other, then it has no negative impact.

sorry im asking simple questions but since i already have several rewrite rules in place i dont want to mess up.

Check the example code linked from the sticky thread at the top of the forum, and adapt for your site.

This question comes up almost every day, and has been answered several thousand times before. :-)

Post your best effort code here if you run into problems. Use Live HTTP Headers for Firefox to check the result really does return 301.
