Best practices guide ?

Is there an Apache best practices guide somewhere that discusses how to efficiently setup and maintain large apache installs? For instance, our organization hosts many virtual hosts for other organizations, even multiple apache installs in separate (Solaris) zones on the same host.

Seems like every server we install someone has a bright idea on how to organize the directories differently, where to place the various config files, log files and DocumentRoot. We don't need to be reinventing the wheel when other large ISPs have already done this.

Problem is that Apache's documentation does not cover such aspects. I haven't been able to locate any Apache documentation that adresses such issues. Anybody know of any books or links to documents that covers such topics?

Thanks for any info... in the mean time, I'll be just around the corner here reinventing the wheel for the fifth time in 12 months.
