I'm trying a couple of asp pages on a site hosted by the hosts of this forum. It's Apache with chillisoft. The pages don't have any asp code but have asp extension names. But they are getting mangled. Chillisoft is taking mysite.com/page.asp and showing it in the URL bar as mysite.com/mysite.com-asp/page.asp. Google is now picking those wrong URLs up! Arrghh.

Is there any way around this?

The hosting company has just emailed me. Apparently, they provide chillisoft at the server level rather than the account level and this rewriting of the URLs is just what happens. Customers are quite happy with it according to them. Happy with their URLs being mangled? I'm stunned.

Any suggestions anybody? Or do I just need to find a new hosting company?

Rename the pages to non-asp extensions and 301-redirect the original and mangled names to the new URL?

Or, what you said...

Thanks for your reply, Jim. Yes, that's one solution. I forgot to mention that I want to keep the asp names. Is my only solution to move to a Windows hosting?

And why don't hosting companies make issues like this clear? It's been a week of poncing about and even upgrading my account to their most expensive package on their assurance that this package has chillisoft and can display my asp pages properly.
