Removing Redirection of FTP access

Two different domains show me the same files in FTP, can this be removed?

I'm working on a site which is being redirected from domain A to domain B, but the redirection isn't needed any more as domain A is becoming their main domain, and B is being dumped.

This has been set up by someone else and I'm a bit confused as to how. It seems that both domains share a common space on the server, becuase when I FTP into either of them the same files are shown for both domains (I've checked this by uploading a file to A, and it appeared in the folder for B).

I'm guessing there will be htaccess or 301 redirection going on but as I can't seem to get into the FTP for domain A then I'm a bit stuck!

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance, J

Sounds like a DNS problem (if the sites are no longer supposed to share the same server) or a server configuration problem (if the sites are no longer supposed to share the same file space).

If you have a control panel or shell access to configure FTP on this server, then dig into that. If not, then talk to your hosting company.

FTP is a separate server apart from Apache (which is an HTTP server only). So you won't find the solution in Apache itself.

Thanks for the reply.

I agree with what you say here, we're on the phone trying to get the hosting firm to sort it out as they don't supply any sort of cPanel access.

The host is Virgin Media, so if anyone is thinking of using them they should consider that you get very little control over your domain compared to most other hosts.
