Redirecting URLs to newer ones

Errr... I'm not exactly sure how I would put this, but I am trying to find a way to redirect URLs to their rewritten version if the non-rewritten one is requested. Let's say, for example:

the rewritten URL is: /category/page/
and the requested URL is: index.cgi?category=category&page=page

I don't want to expose them like this, even if security by obscurity is bad. Does anybody have a solution for my dilemma? I've Google searched but it has yet to yield any results.
