Subdomain Redirect - I Need Professional Help!

Hello everyone, having spent three hours searching for a solution online, I've resorted to asking the experts here on WebmasterWorld.

I'm simply attempting to redirect xyz.mydomain.com to mydomain.com/catalogue.php?supplier=xyz

It really shouldn't be that complicated, but traditional .htaccess modifications aren't working with my Ensim server - on which I'm able to create sub-domains manually, but with over 900 suppliers, there's no way I can go down that route.

It needs to be a wildcard system, so anything before .mydomain.com must forward to the www.mydomain.com/catalogue.php?supplier=

For reference, solutions like the one below didn't work for me - I suspect the solution I require has something to do with http.conf...
