Wrapper Shell Script

I'm trying to install the dreaded HSBC CPI and the instructions say...

"Add the path to libCcCpiTools.so to the LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment variable (either by suitable file location, or direct addition). It may be necessary for a merchant to speak to their host regarding suitable location / installation of this file."

So I asked my host...

"Can you add the libCcCpiTools.so binary file to your server and add the path to libCcCpiTools.so to the LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment variable?"

His reply is...

"Regarding the LD_LIBRARY_PATH setting, we cannot alter this globally or install the shared library to a global location. However, you can create a wrapper shell script to set this then exec into the needed file. All that's needed after that is to post to the wrapper script."

I have no idea what he's talking about! Please can someone tell me how to create a wrapper shell script.

This thread ranks #3 in Google for [wrapper shell script] and there are several sites in the top 20 that appear to explain what you need and what you need to do.

Post your best effort code back here, and we'll attempt to debug it.

None of the search results made any sense to me (somone with no apache/server knowledge). Am I after a 'cgi wrapper script'?
