.htaccess rewrite probs!

Well I know very little about .htaccess but no problem with php ;D

Well this is what i wanna do:

turn:
www.mysite.com/index.php?p=home

into:
www.mysite.com/home

or have it when i click the link (home) which has the following href (www.mysite.com/home) to link to /www.mysite.com/index.php?p=home but show in header www.mysite.com/home

confusing :P
