AJAX/Mod Rewrite Problem

I'm trying to setup the Unobtrusive AJAX Rating Bar on a page that I've used mod_rewrite on. However, when I try to rate the item, it never does, it just stalls.

I have the page set up as www.domain.com/page/id/ but when I put in the page as www.domain.com/page.php?id=$id, the script works fine. Why would mod_rewrite prevent the script from working and how can I fix it? I would greatly appreciate it.
