Ive just got mysefl a new (unsupported) server, so I have no-one to fix this for me.

Ubuntu server running Plesk and apache 2.

I have hosted my personal site on this server, which is all flash. When you visit the site it will load up the first page fine. This loads main.swf into the page.

But then it tries to load home.swf INTO main.swf, and nothing happens.

I use HTTP Headers firefox plugin to check how things load, i get no 404 error at all... home.swf is loading ok, it just doesnt seem to show up?

Does anyone have any idea why this is happening? I also host another flash site, and this too is having weird flash problems, it doesnt even load up at all. Please help!

Thanks in advance.

(A belated) Welcome to WebmasterWorld, richblend.

Your personal urls are going to get clipped as it is against the Terms of Service here at WebmasterWorld, but FWIW I checked your link and main.swf loaded fine in my browser. Are you certain you don't have a browser issue here?

Hey, thanks for the reply. I managed to fix it, whcih is why it worked for you.

Somehow, some of the swf files were corrupted when uploaded using filezilla. I noticed that there were strange characters appearing in HTML files I uploaded as well, so I just re-uploaded everything from another machine and it worked fine.

Thanks again,

Rich

Rich; common problem that. Could by anything from encodings to the mode of the FTP transfers behind it. I've have much fewer problems since starting a policy of development machines matching server machines - i.e. if you have Ubuntu on your server, run Ubuntu on your desktop machine and match the environment as closely as you can.
