What kind of Code can i put into .htaccess to ahieve this to re-direct old indexed links to the newer site.
Any advice or views, such as is there a penalty etc..as i do not want old Php links crawled comimg up with a 404 error?
If you must change your URLs (say, because a lawyer is forcing you to do so), then your best bet for long-term stability and happiness is to remove the "filetype" completely from your page URLs.
Note that to change your URLs, you must change them in the links on your pages. Mod_rewrite cannot do this. What it can do is to 'map' those new URLs to the existing files in your server, so that changing the URLs does not break the site.
However, it might be useful to discuss *why* you think you need to change your URLs, as that might then lead to more focused discussion of the techniques needed to achieve your goals.

Mainly for Security reasons and SEO..The dynamic natures of php seems to be more exploiteble if i am not mistaken.
In anycase do you think it is better to take down the url from Googles index and start over.
I am not to concerned for rankings as it does not rank too well PR2.
Just sick of scrapers and hikacjers which PHP seems more vulnerable to me.
If i am wrong in thinking or out of sync by all means let me know.
