Redirection through .htaccess

Redirection from domain.com/index to domain.com

Hi Mates,
I am facing a problem in 301 redirection through .htaccess.
My site is exist in domain.com/index.html and domain.com/index.php forms.
I am trying to redirect them to domain.com.The problem is that I am not able to find the proper code.Can any one here suggest me the proper code of this redirection.

I use an extra ? in the code html?Šphp so that index.htm also gets redirected.
