I just had an experience of pages reloading intermittently. Sometimes a page would load, sometimes not.
It turns out that that the proplem was .htaccess above the docroot. I know I'm the only one who's ever done this since everyone knows it has to be inside the docroot.
FYI, this .htaccess was only changing PHP upload parameters.
But, just in case.
