Im not a coder by any means. I have a webmaster that logs in my host account to work on my sites but I dont want him having access to my traffic stats. Any ideas?

thanks in advance.

I agree with the opinions posted in your other thread [webmasterworld.com]:

  • If you do not or cannot trust your Webmaster, fire him. If he is doing a good job, he *will* be looking at your stats and making or recommending changes to your site to maximize your revenue. If you don't allow him to look at your traffic stats, he can't do his job -- to the detriment of your business.

If you're truly intent on following what the professional Webmasters here are telling you is 'bad instinct,' then change the passwords on all of your FTP accounts. You may expect your Webmaster to quit at this point, so be prepared with another one in the wings (who you should inform in advance about not allowing him to see stats, and who should accordingly charge you much more to fix on-site problems because you're making the job very difficult).

To make a different analogy to the one you posted in that thread, you are asking your mechanic to keep your car in tip-top shape, but requiring him to wear a blind-fold while working on it, in case he might see a receipt or a few stray business papers left on the passenger seat...

With respect, your attitude has shocked or puzzled many respondents because it is simply outside our collective experience.

If the problem is that your stats are publicly available via HTTP *without* logging-in, then that is an entirely different matter -- Ask your Webmaster to fix it.
