All,

I recently moved webhosts, and since doing so I can be browsing the pages of my website and then the following standard message is randomly displayed.

If i click refresh, nothing happens. If i click back and then continue the pages / links are fine again!

This is driving me crazy and probably customers away from my site. When i say randomly i'm talking every other hour
or so. Has anyone got any ideas to what the cause may be?

I have seen this behaviour from 3 different locations (country) using 3 different ADSL providers on 3 different PC's.

I'm wondering if it's my hosts router - perhaps it's dropping packets? or DNS qwirk but propogation of the NS records
would have completed weeks ago now.

Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage

Most likely causes:

You are not connected to the Internet.
The website is encountering problems.
There might be a typing error in the address.

What you can try:
Diagnose Connection Problems

More information

This problem can be caused by a variety of issues, including:

Internet connectivity has been lost.
The website is temporarily unavailable.
The Domain Name Server (DNS) is not reachable.
The Domain Name Server (DNS) does not have a listing for the website's domain.
If this is an HTTPS (secure) address, click Tools, click Internet Options, click Advanced, and check to be sure the SSL and TLS protocols are enabled under the security section.

For offline users

You can still view subscribed feeds and some recently viewed webpages.
To view subscribed feeds

Click the Favorites Center button , click Feeds, and then click the feed you want to view.

To view recently visited webpages (might not work on all pages)

Click Tools , and then click Work Offline.
Click the Favorites Center button , click History, and then click the page you want to view.

Try using Firefox or any non-IE browser. I think you'll find the error messages to be a lot more useful. This may help you to determine if it is a server problem, or --if you just changed hosts within the past 48 hours-- a DNS resolution problem. If the latter, the problem will likely clear up as the DNS change propagates fully.

If it's a server problem, then refer it to your new host -- You'll find out how responsive their support is...

well, i tried firefox, got the following message (when it happened). Any other ideas? - i've emailed the webhost but expect nothing sensible back...

Unable to connect

Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at ...

* The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few
moments.

* If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
connection.

* If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

"Can't establish a connection" means the server is not responding. So it looks like your DNS is working (assuming that the A record is *correct* and that your server has a problem. Contact your host, and if no response, then you need a new host.
