I'm wondering how I could force users to go through a log in. I'm not talking about a log in on a page, I'm interested it being on an intranet. For example, Joe would log into the system through his laptop's wireless connector. He'll enter, into his favourite browser, www.webmasterworld.com. Now I don't want him going there, I want him redirected to another page sitting locally on the server where it asks him to enter his username/password for this internet access.
You see this sort of thing when you're on the train or at a station or at a coffee place and you open up your laptop or PDA for the wireless. How does it work? Can I build something like this? Is there a free version? And can I build this sort of system using a computer that creates a wireless network that one can join.
