Hi

I am moving hosts Saturday. I have a new IP range I am moving to. So, I have made "new" versions of httpd.conf that are pre-edited to the new range. I have also pre-made a new hosts and rc.conf reflecting the new IP range. I figure just before I pull the servers, I will rename these to the active rc.conf, hosts file and httpd.conf files.

I had the new host put the OLD IP's into their DNS, and then pointed my registrar to the new host with the old IPs. When I transition, then the new host just has to update to the new IP ranges.

So,is there anything else I can do to insure a smooth transition? I am hoping the DNS thing will make for a faster update to the new IPs... not much else I can do there, right?

Oh, and what am I forgetting?

Regards!

Dave

Those who don't know your site may not feel qualified to answer, and those who do know about it most certainly won't feel qualified... :)

All I can suggest is to have the DNS Time-To-Live set short before and during the transition, so that switchover will go faster.
