Right now i have a pentium 4 3.0ghz, 2gb of ram and 2500 gb of bandwidth. My site gets about 6 million page impressions a month. It's about 1100gb of bandwidth, but it seems that sometimes the site is very slow. If i have more then 100 users online at the same time it is very slow. Is that normal for that kind of server?

anyone know what kind of server i might need to handle that kind of load?

We have no idea, as you haven't said how you serve your pages.

Static HTML, PHP, Perl, something else?

Even that isn't enough information either. This is a very individual thing. It depends on how much work your server has to do to serve a page. And that is different for every site.

If it's is too slow, you have two choices: get a faster machine (or more machines) or make the software more efficient.
