Hi,

Sendmail has been working perfectly up until the latest release on Oct 11th.
In that release they removed the AutoRebuildAliases option for security reasons.
However since then all my formmail and auto generated emails have stopped working. I think this is because the script appears to send the emails as "x@x.com" but actually sends it via an auto generated admin code, which because AutoRebuildAliases now doesn't work means that those one off emails don't exist.

Does anyone have a clue how to get around this?

as an update and possible much more serious the php mail function also fails

Ugh -- That doesn't sound good...

If you can't revert to the previous version, and if you don't get much response here, I'd recommend contacting your host, or checking out the support and discussion forums pertaining specifically to SendMail in order to get a 'critical mass' of knowledgeable discussion participants.

Jim,

I had come to the opinion that reverting to an older version of sendmail was a good idea, but I've not got much idea of how to do that. I do have another server with a working version of sendmail on, can I just copy things over and then stop and restart the mail server?

Since you've forced me into a corner and I have to answer, I'll admit that I don't know. You'll do far better asking in sendmail-specific forums and chat rooms than here, since we concentrate on core Apache issues here.

I'm sure you could copy the older files, but I'm not familiar with how that software is configured, or if an old version of the program would work with a newer version of a configuration file or configuration settings, either of which might be in a differenr directory than the program code itself.
