URL Rewriting

url rewriting for link exchange script

Hello,
I am wondering if anyone here can help me to make url rewriting for php website. I have search this forum and found a .htaccess mehtod for rewriting.. see this website..<snip>

i want to make html page.. i have used this
RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule ^f([0-9]+)-([A-Za-z0-9\-]+)\.html$ links.php?cid=$1 [L]
in .htaccess page.

I dont know whats wrong with this and why its not showing me..html

similiar thing works here in this forum <snip>

please suggest me what to do with this.
