I've been using an XAMPP install of Apache on my Dell laptop for over 14 months with no issues. As of last night, browsing any local files in IE 6 is suddenly very slow, taking 20-30 seconds to refresh any local page. Firefox and Opera are unaffected. I rebooted as well as restarting Apache and no change; between the time this started happening and when it was working okay, I was working on a web file using Homesite (which I've also been doing for 14 months) but nothing out of the ordinary.
Any suggestions or ideas why this would be happening? Browsing online with IE is totally normal.
