hiding extension(.htaccess problem)

masking php, hiding. extension , .htaccess, httpd.conf

hi,
i am not well versed in apache configuration.
i am trying to mask extension. it works fine with my windows apache server. i just added DefaultType directive in my http.conf.
The problem is when i upload it in remote hosting. it has same version of apache. when i add DefaultType in my .htaccess it just download the script instead of parsing it remotely.
