How to config virtualhost and mod rewrite enabled together?

Hi there, I've installed Appserv 2.4.5 that comes with

Apache 1.3.34
PHP 4.4.1
MySQL 5.0.16
phpMyAdmin-2.5.7-pl1

it works very well. However, I would like to add virtualhost to control multiple-websites in my localhost and make mod_rewrite to works together. Please give me some suggestion about how to modify Apache httpd config file or .htaccess file.
