Hi,

We are setting up an unmanaged server with Fedora Core 4. We are using Webmin to do the setup.

So far we have everything working including DNS and are now stuck on Sendmail. It was packaged and we went through the first steps of install/setting up. It looks like we can send from Webmin but we cannot recieve.

We see that the pop and smtp (25 and 110) ports are not Listening yet and that is where our problem lies. Where in webmin or apache do we set this up?

Any help or instructions would be very much appreciated.

Cheers,

Berry

From the webmin docs it looks as if there is a "Sendmail Configuration" option. Upon setting that up you will also need to get into the webmin "System" options and goto Bootup/Shutdown and make sure Sendmail is there and has a yes in the start at boot column.

Note that Sendmail is neither a POP3 nor an IMAP server, and you have several choices regarding which software you want to install that provides those services.

In Webmin's 'Servers' section, you should see the Dovecot IMAP/POP3 Server module. If it isn't yet installed, you can download and install it [dovecot.org], then go back into Webmin and see if it can find your installation. Sometimes you'll need to adjust the paths to the program files within Webmin, but once it finds the program, you can manage it from Webmin.

Dovecot will install and configure POP3 and IMAP services for your box. Turn it on, and you'll be listening on all the right ports.
