router caused server to go down

My website went down earlier today--about 8 hours now--and the tech person at my hosting co said it was a router on the internet (not theirs) messing up one of their servers. I know of one other site that has been down all day also--but hosted in Great Britain.

Anyone else experience an outage today?

I'm wondering how widespread this was.

You don't say who your provider is, so it's nigh-impossible to give you any real information. I did see this mention of an outage in the UK: [theregister.co.uk ]
