Site keeps grinding to a halt

but told server is fine and coping. What could it be?

This morning, my site has been going extremely slow to a point where the pages fail to load, plus I can hardly do any work in the admin back-end, pages keep timing out. Occassionally its fine.

It's not just me either, but someone else in my area who works on the site is finding it difficult and slow.

Have been onto the guy who hosts us, and he came back telling me everything was fine on the server, usual server load and it was coping fine.

Can this sort of severe site slow down be anything else other than server problem?

I forgot to add that my connection seems ok cause any other website i visit is fine

Could be a network problem I suppose, but the server is the first place I'd look for the problem.
