hello, just a simple question. Is there an advantage or disadvantage sending php headers or setting them with .htaccess... (like encoding charset utf-8) thanx in advance

There are advantages and disavantages to either method, none of them particularly compelling. So I'd recommend using whichever method you're more comfortable with.
