I followed the instructions on how to install apache from the following page....... [webdevtips.com...]

I typed in localhost were I was told to, and entered my email address..... After I finished installing I got the following error messsages......

Only one usage of each socket address is normally permitted....

0.0.0.0.80 no listening sockets available unable to view logs....

And when I opened the new icon in the system tray and tried to connect it asks for my computer name..... Is that local host? (what I was told to type in your instruction or it it actually the name of my computer..... I tried entering both and got the following eror message............ Unable to connect to remote registryon\\localhost

How do I configure my computer to free up and assign port 80 to apache? I have IIS on my coomputer (Xp pro) but gave up trying to configue IIS with php5! After it used to have asp.net on it. I only want to have apache, php5 and msql running.....

Please will somebody help? I am VERY new to this!

Might be that IIS is still taking your port 80. Open the Internet services manager thingie, right-click on the name of your computer there and choose 'restart IIS'. In the next box, tell it to end the IIS service iso. restarting it.

This is from the top of my head, so not sure everything is correct.
