Hi

my IPB forum is on a virtual hosting...
people keep getting "Service Temporarily Unavailable" 503 error page every now and then when visiting my forum.
Does that mean my host is setting a low number of hits and the number of requests is greater than the Limit value?

and if so, could the host increase that number if I ask him to?
or is that a global setting affecting all acounts in the server?

or perhaps there are other reasons for this error to show up?

sallam,

Yes, it means that your server is getting more traffic than it can handle.

Your host may be willing to increase your quota, or they may tell you to upgrade your service level. But this is a question you should take up with your hosting service.

(Most webmasters would be happy to have their sites 'too busy') ;)

Thanks...

I was asked a while ago to move my website elsewhere, or get a dedicated server (which I cannot afford) because it was crashing the server. Now I get these 503 pages in the new host I just moved to :(

Could you explain a bit further please?
by 'quota' do you meaan bandwidth? because I only use 40GB out of allocated 200GB
or is there another quota I'm not aware of, like number of hits per minutes or something?
hosts dont say these things in their plans.
