I am trying to install Apache on my Win2000 Pro machine.
As I started to install, it asked me the Network Name, Server Name, and Administrtor email address. Not knowing what to put, I put in my name for the first two answers, and my emai address for the tired answer. Although my pc isn't connected to the internet, but is connected to another pc, with a twisted cable.
Thought I better mention that as it might have something to do with the installation problem.
I have tried twice to install, and both times it failed. I didn't have time to write down the first DOS error message, but I did manage to write down most after the second failure. Which was only one of each socket address can be used, socket can;t bind to address 0.0.0.80, and then a second DOS window would open and say System cannot find specified, no install of Apache2....
Can anyone help?
It looks as if the first failed install is blocking the second. You will need to start off by completely uninstalling Apache. Go to the control panel, add/remove programs, and choose Apache. Then go to the Program Files directory and manually delete any Apache2 files there.
Once that is done, go through the install process again (it doesn't take more than a few minutes usually). However, if it won't start, check that you aren't running any other services on port 80, such as IIS. Also, some software firewalls might affect the running of Apache, so if it doesn't work, disable the firewall temporarily to see if that causes the problem, then reenable it afterwards and add entries as required.
