a. i'm green but not that green
b. i'm running 'coranto' (most recent stable release - clean install)
c. my header response from the server when submitting most POSTs is:

HTTP/1.1 200 OK
Date: Thu, 05 Aug 2004 20:15:46 GMT
Server: Apache/1.3.31 (Unix) mod_auth_passthrough/1.8 mod_log_bytes/1.2 mod_bwlimited/1.4 PHP/4.3.8 FrontPage/5.0.2.2634a mod_ssl/2.8.19 OpenSSL/0.9.7a
Expires: Thu, 05 Aug 2004 20:15:46 GMT
Connection: close
Content-Type: text/html

d. when I submit a content post that contains coranto/perl tags (ie> <field: user>) i get a 406 error - and I've traced it down to the inclusion of the ">" character - thats what breaks it -
e. i can (obviously) change my .htaccess file but higher level control is only by begging and pleading with my host/server admin.

any thought would be helpful

Have you tried posting at the gweilo.org forum? Good luck...

omg, have you ever thinking about how many gigabytes of bandwidth you could save by taking off the server token out of your http replies? ;-)

I'm afraid i can not be of your help in this 406 issue more than this oneliner (i just could not stand this short comment, sorry)
