Subdomains and Apache httpd.conf

How to access files above the subdomain

I have www.mydomain.com and the subdomain sub.mydomain.com (this points to www.mydomain.com/sub/)

-Is it possible to use Apache rewrite rules so that someone accessing sub.mydomain.com can access files in the normal .com root directory?

eg. Using relative links can someone access mydomain.com/graphics/ and /cgi-bin/ ,etc if they access the subdomain?

Yeah, that should be possible (unless there are any other restrictions).
