This guy is just waiting to be slashdotted. In fact, I bet he's crossing his fingers and burning incense to the laughing Buddha right now.

Once slashdotted he will have many thousands of invisible friends . . .

Anyone get any traffic from it yet?

It's not really a search engine, just a comical thing. It always finds the same couple of sites.

Some of us are still waiting for our first click from WiseNut this month :)

So, I highly doubt, even if this *was* a real search engine of some sort, that it would drive much, if any, actual traffic yet.

Besides if they intended it to be real...I think they might have some issues with copying the look / feel of Google so closely. Since it's all so obviously done in jest, I guess it's an ok site as a parody or what not.

Should I have put a smiley face on my last post? ;)

But, strange as it may seem, Geekle is sending me more traffic than WiseNut is. ;) Speaking of which, WiseNut may set the record for the most outdated index of all time, surpassing even the old Excite. Anyone keeping score?

<that's a seperate topic - WiseNut, etc>

But, WiseNut imho, is dead & buried. I get more traffic from 2nd teir engines that the general public doesn't even know exist, or even LookSmart proper ( and that is few & far between ) than WiseNut.

They need a USP - they don't have one, afaik.

Though Geekle could teach them something - perhaps, remake it to be more funny, and they could convince us to 'give it a spin'?

Don't be so sure. Looksmart bought Wisenut. At the moment Wisenut may not be so good. However, Looksmart may spend some money on Wisenut to give it life.

How many times will people say, "it's not dead yet?" before they believe -> the thing never got off the ground.

rfgdxm1 Gigablast sends me a LOT more traffic than WiseNut ever has sent to my sites.

Dmoz as well, along with Vivisimo, and SearchHippo sends me more traffic too than WiseNut. How is it that with the money that LS has - and the distributed stuff etc - that they aren't getting anywhere?

Simple: USP - unique selling proposition.

They don't have one. They NEED one.

Geekle is a JOKE - and I'll bet they get nearly as much traffic as WiseNut.

*if* you are bullish on WiseNut, use them - enjoy them - tell your friends about them. I tried, a while ago, to sell people on it - but if it still works dog slow as before, it's a mighty hard sell when Google works so fast.

Hey guys...
I was told that you picked out my site, so I came here to have a look what you all have been saying :)

Thanks!

Geekle has been up and running since March last year and and is still a work in progress(since I am a student, somethings have to come before others)
If you have any suggestions, comments and/or feedback, please don't hesitate to drop me a line.

Right on davester28. Not a search engine, but a laugh. People have created rips on Microsoft and other big names, so I thought why not the big shot search engine? Don't get me wrong, Google rocks, I use it all the time.

twilight47: You want me to add you site? Sure give me the link... I will be most happy too. If you know of any other "Lamer" sites, I will be happy to put them in there too!

jeremy_goodrich: You will be suprised on how much traffic that passes through. Considering that it is just a "joke". I just hope some of the people at Google could drop by one day and have a laugh at my "shrine" (/me giggles like a little girl)

Cool site!

Slashdotted? What is that?

It means a whole lot of traffic [slashdot.org]

Not a search engine

Is there going to be a GeekleBot spidering the Web in the future?

Maybe... A GeekleBOT maybe passing through all those directories... But I will have to change the look of Geekle.

Thats for the rate on my site ;) I still have heaps todo... It is sitting on my Dad's computer, and I haven't seen him in a while. I have been meaning to get to that actually. :)

All of yo'll feel free to drop by and have a look at the forums ;)
