Regarding the Northern Light Web search engine, which won three PC Magazine awards in a row for being best in class, Seuss declines to make firm predictions for now, but does say "We have started discussions with interested parties about ideas for new approaches to the Web search problem, ideas that represent a collaboration between others who have done innovative work and Northern Light. These ideas may result in uniquely useful Web search services."

I think they will go in Web search services for two reasons. One, this is a good way to promote the corporate sector. Two, the text ad market in SER have grown and will continue to grow. M2C.

I sure am curious how much that url / brand name is worth. Was such a shame to see their search busted for so long while Divine suffered.

Though, now that some people have been seeing a few clicks from altavista again - I wonder how long it will be before we see some traffic if they offer consumer related search?

A PageRank of 8, one of the oldest Search Engine (Oct. 95) and one of the first news aggregator [web.archive.org].... for 81,000 $... What a deal!

yes, i spent many a day trying to figure out free bee inclusions to Northern Light - who's USP was that they had quite a serious natural language processor.

Nice to see them come back and independant, they certainly have good clientele, i just hope they can fire up a good SE, to add a little spice to the mix.

These are good news.

Northernlight used to be my favorite SE - both from the usability and from the web coverage point of view.

I wonder if their Web Search will catch up with the others.
