I have a website and it is listed in MSN.com. But some of the sub category pages is not listed in msn.com.
As far as my knowledge, msn takes primary results from Looksmart, secondary results from Inktomi and some results from Overture.(correct me if i am wrong)
The most surprising thing for me is that the sub category pages of my website is listed in inktomi as well as looksmart. But it is not coming up in msn.com.
Can anyone explain to me WHY?
Thanks in advance for answering.
MSN pulls from (in this order on their search engine results pages)
So, if you are in LS, and there is good $$$ in that field, somebody may have done a direct deal with MSN (or 3, or 5...)
After that, if the Overture bids are high enough, they will show some of those.
Then comes the LookSmart stuff - again, this doesn't always cover all the stuff that *could* be pulled from their db - not sure the exact requirements for things to appear on MSN from them, but my guess would be some kind of $$$ threshold.
Lastly, if none of the above, they'll show the Inktomi stuff. Again, it's possible there are sites there - that won't show up on MSN.com. The most annoying thing about their site - is no consistancy, and no 'central' place to see what you can buy with your $$$ and how much it will cost.
Now that we know where the data is from, and your sites are found in at least 2 of the above listings sections (or should) you may consider either upgrading to 1) MSN direct deal if you can or 2) Overture premium listings.
Sadly, the best way to perform better in MSN is only with your wallet open as far as I know. If somebody else has a sure fire way to get it done, I'm all ears.
