Where are Excite/Webcrawler getting results?

Where do the non-Overture results come from?

Excite/Webcrawler no longer allow the admission of URLs, but direct you to Overture instead.

Fine, that seems to be a growing trend.

But if they display the top two or three results from paid Overture subscribers, where are they drawing the rest of the search results from?

Are they using their existing database/index, and if so, does it continue to crawl sites already in it?

Are they drawing from Inktomi?

I've asked, but they're not talking.

Anyone know how to get a new "cloaked" URL into Excite/Webcrawler?

They're using Overture for all searches (I ran up to 200 plus listings for terms I know only have a few bids and it was all Overture stuff) and ODP for directory results. I might add that they appear to be running an old RDF dump from ODP - couple cats are there that were deleted from ODP.

If all regular search results are from Overture that should mean that the back fill for non bid terms is coming from INK through Overture.
